چکیده

Displacement of the sigmoid sinus vascular wall and intrasinus blood flow motion is known to cause pulsatile tinnitus (PT) in patients with plate dehiscence. To investigate source sound that causes PT, this study sought determine correlation between vivo displacement hemodynamics. A confocal laser sensor color-coded Doppler ultrasound system were implemented on a participant diagnosed venous PT. The velocity data analyzed using time series magnitude squared coherence methods. median peak values 6.7 [Formula: see text]m 11.7 text]m, respectively. major frequency range was below 4 Hz. portmanteau test rejected for different m. cross-correlation two processes not zero, indicating existence cross-correlation. gauged signals 0.3 at 7.143 temporally correlated flow, although induced fell human hearing threshold. Therefore, hydroacoustic vibroacoustic sounds by fluid–structure interaction osseous structures overweighed focal dehiscence area PT production.

Sigmoid Sinus Wall Reconstruction for Pulsatile Tinnitus Caused by Sigmoid Sinus Wall Dehiscence: A Single-Center Experience

OBJECTIVE To evaluate clinical characteristics and present surgical outcomes of PT caused by sigmoid sinus wall dehiscence (SSWD). METHODS This study retrospectively reviewed 34 patients with PT who were diagnosed with SSWD in our institution between December 2008 and July 2013. Among them, 27 patients underwent sigmoid sinus wall reconstruction (surgery group) and 7 patients refused surgery ...

Pulsatile tinnitus associated with a laterally placed sigmoid sinus.

We describe a case of subjective pulsatile tinnitus associated with a laterally placed sigmoid sinus. CT showed an enhancing eroding through the medial wall of the right mastoid. Two-dimensional time-of-flight MR angiography and conventional cerebral angiography revealed the tortuous and laterally deviated sinus.

Objective Venous Pulsatile Tinnitus

Pulsatile tinnitus usually means a turbulent flow within the vessels. We describe a 54-year-old man with a disabling objective pulsatile tinnitus due to a diverticulum of the sigmoid sinus toward the ipsilateral mastoid. We performed a surgical intervention via the endovascular route using coils to obliterate the diverticulum and a stent to avoid coil migration . The patient had a complete and ...

Temporal Bone Pneumatization and Pulsatile Tinnitus Caused by Sigmoid Sinus Diverticulum and/or Dehiscence

BACKGROUND Although air cells within temporal bone may play an important role in the transmission of pulsatile tinnitus (PT) noise, it has not been studied systematically. PURPOSE To evaluate the difference in temporal bone pneumatization between PT patients with sigmoid sinus diverticulum and/or dehiscence (SSDD) and healthy people. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 199 unilateral persistent...

Pulsatile tinnitus.

Pulsatile tinnitus is an uncommon otologic symptom, which often presents a diagnostic and management dilemma to the otolaryngologist. This symptom always deserves a thorough evaluation to avoid disastrous consequences from potentially life-threatening associated pathology. In most pulsatile tinnitus patients a treatable underlying etiology can be identified.
